About the role:

We are excited to offer opportunities for Emerging Future Shapers to join Orica’s Summer Internship Program in Brisbane, supporting our Geosolutions Technology team.

These internships are designed for students who want to apply their studies to practical technology challenges. The available placements support data science and image-processing initiatives as well as the development and improvement of software solutions used in a real-world industrial workplace.

You will learn alongside experienced technical professionals, contribute to meaningful project work and gain exposure to how technology and geotechnical insights support safer and more informed decision-making.

The internships will be based in Brisbane, with placements aligned to project requirements and relevant academic backgrounds.

What you will be doing:

Data Science & Image Processing

- Support the preparation, exploration and analysis of technical and operational data.
- Assist with image-processing, data-validation and visualisation activities.
- Contribute to prototypes, testing and documentation under the guidance of experienced team members.
- Help communicate findings and insights clearly to technical stakeholders.

Software & Computer Science

- Support the design, development, testing and improvement of software or digital solutions.
- Assist with troubleshooting,



technical documentation and the translation of user needs into practical requirements.
- Participate in team discussions, reviews and continuous-improvement activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues across technology and operational teams to deliver practical outcomes.

What you will bring:

- Currently completing a relevant tertiary qualification in Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Image Processing or a related discipline.
- An interest in applying technology, data and analytical thinking to real-world challenges.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new tools and concepts.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- A commitment to safety, inclusion and respectful ways of working.
- Availability to participate for the full Summer Internship Program period and to work from the advertised location.
