Software Engineer, AI Systems

Engagement : Fixed-term Contract, 8 weeks

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join an 8 week engagement building a working AI prototype for a Tier One mining client. You will turn real employee requests into structured, reliable action across enterprise systems, working with Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Connect, and MCP to design the agentic layer that drives it, alongside a team of AWS engineers shaping a credible path to production.

The Project

This engagement sits within an AWS-backed prototype building an AI front door for employee services. An employee makes a request by voice or chat, an AI agent works out what needs to happen, and completes it safely in the system of record. The first proof points are two real flows on one shared conversational spine, and the work is built around weekly showcases rather than a slow build up to a single release.

What You Will Do

- Build the core engine of the prototype, turning messy real-world inputs into reliable, structured output
- Design and build the agentic layer on Amazon Bedrock, working alongside Amazon Connect and Lex at the voice and chat front end
- Integrate through MCP to safely write into enterprise systems, with a full audit trail
- Keep a human in the loop at the right points,



and measure how well the system performs
- Work alongside AWS engineers and co-author the path to production

What We Are Looking For

- Solid development skills, preferably in Python
- Experience extracting structured data from complex, real-world inputs and computing reliably from it
- Hands on experience with Amazon Bedrock, agentic architectures, and prompt and tool design
- Working knowledge of core AWS services: Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, API Gateway, CDK
- Comfortable delivering within a timebox, with weekly client showcases

Desirable Background

- Computer vision applied to technical documents or drawings
- Prior AWS prototyping experience
- Exposure to Amazon Connect, Lex, or other voice and conversational AI interfaces
- Experience integrating with enterprise systems such as SAP or ServiceNow
