About the role
Due to the high level of growth and expansion into new markets, XL Precast is expanding and looking for a skilled and fully qualified Formwork Carpenter to join our team. This is a Full time position with 38-hour basic weeks.
Key responsibilities
- Making formwork from timber, plywood or plastic and steel as per shop drawings
- Ability to read and understand drawings
- Selecting and ordering materials required and prepare layouts
- Measuring and cutting wood or metal
- Assembling prepared wood to form structures and fittings ready to install
- Safely operating hand and power tools
- Prepared to assist other trades
- Proven experience (typically 2–5+ years) in formwork carpentry,
including form building and removal, handling architectural finishes, and working on commercial or precast projects
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical plans and drawings accurately.
- Proficient with hand and power carpentry tools, and committed to workplace health & safety.
- Able to carry formwork, work outdoors in varying conditions, climb scaffolding, and work at heights
- Leadership and team management skills
- Strong knowledge of concrete finishing techniques
- Ability to work with precision and attention to detail
- Quality focused
- Tool and equipment maintenance and housekeeping
Trade qualification
Certificate III in Carpentry (CPC30220) or equivalent; Certificate III in Formwork (FWP series) is advantageous
Construction induction (“White Card”)
mandatory for site work.
