Foresight Subsurface is seeking a Certified Utility Locator to join our team in Maroochydore, QLD on a full-time basis . This is a critical role within our subsurface location services business, where you will be responsible for accurately identifying and marking underground utilities to ensure the safety of excavation works and protect vital infrastructure. As a Certified Utility Locator, you will play a vital part in our operations, working directly with construction sites, contractors and utility companies to deliver high-quality location services that prevent costly damage and protect public safety.

Key responsibilities

- Locating, identifying and marking underground utilities including water pipes, gas lines, electrical conduits, telecommunications cables and sewer systems using advanced detection equipment
- Conducting site inspections and surveys to assess underground infrastructure before excavation or construction work commences
- Operating and maintaining utility location equipment including ground penetrating radar (GPR), electromagnetic locators and other specialised detection tools
- Accurately recording and documenting utility locations on site plans, maps and reports for clients and contractors
- Communicating findings clearly to site managers, contractors and clients, providing recommendations on protected excavation practices
- Adhering to health and safety regulations, industry standards and best practices whilst working on construction sites
- Liaising with utility companies and service providers to verify utility locations and obtain as-built records
- Maintaining detailed records and reports of all utility location work completed




- Responding to emergency call-outs when required to locate utilities in urgent situations

What we're looking for

- Current Certification in Utility Location (or equivalent recognised qualification in your state or territory)
- Proven experience as a Utility Locator or in a related surveying or construction role within the subsurface identification industry
- Proficiency in operating utility location equipment including electromagnetic locators, ground penetrating radar and cable avoidance tools
- Strong knowledge of underground utility infrastructure, including water, gas, electricity, telecommunications and sewerage systems
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately record and document findings
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with site managers, contractors and clients
- Current Driver's Licence and willingness to travel to job sites across the region
- Ability to work safely at heights and in confined spaces where required
- Excellent health and safety awareness with a commitment to working in accordance with WHS legislation and company policies
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks in outdoor and potentially challenging site conditions




- Problem-solving ability and capacity to make sound judgements in the field
