We are looking for someone who is friendly, genuine and empathic that can help make our patient's experience a positive one. The successful applicant will become a core member of our team, managing our patient's occupational therapy journey!
Position Overview
The occupational therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based assessments, interventions, and support services to clients across a variety of funding streams and service settings.
Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, the clinician will support clients to achieve their individual goals while maintaining the highest standards of professional practice, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Service Delivery
- Deliver high-quality assessments, therapy, and intervention services within your professional scope of practice.
- Develop and implement individualised, goal-focused treatment plans.
- Monitor client progress and adapt interventions to maximise outcomes.
- Deliver services across clinic, community, home, school, workplace, and telehealth environments as required.
- Support clients, families, carers, and stakeholders through education, coaching, and capacity-building approaches.
- Ensure all services are delivered in a safe, ethical, and client-centred manner.
Documentation and Compliance
- Complete clinical notes, assessments, reports, and correspondence accurately and within required timeframes.
- Maintain client records in accordance with organisational policies, qualified standards, and legislative requirements.
- Prepare reports for NDIS, Medicare, schools, medical professionals, support coordinators, and other stakeholders as required.
- Maintain compliance with all professional registration, accreditation, and continuing professional development requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build positive and professional relationships with clients, families, carers, referral partners, and community stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members to achieve holistic client outcomes.
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and collaborative care planning activities.
Professional Practice
- Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practice and emerging clinical developments.
- Participate in supervision, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
- Seek feedback and actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote a positive culture aligned with Cross Care's values and commitment to excellence.
Team Contribution
- Contribute to a collaborative, supportive, and high-performing team environment.
- Share knowledge and resources with colleagues.
- Support organisational growth initiatives and service development opportunities.
- Act as a positive ambassador for Cross Care within the community.
Skills and Experience
- Essential
- Relevant tertiary qualification in respective discipline.
- Current registration with AHPRA (Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy) or Certified Practising Membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
- Current or can obtain a Working with Children Check.
- Current or can obtain a National Police Check.
- Current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable
- Experience working within disability, NDIS, paediatric, community, or private practice settings.
- Experience supporting participants with complex needs.
- Knowledge of NDIS legislation, funding arrangements, and reporting requirements.
- Experience delivering services via telehealth.
- Experience supervising students, graduates, or support staff.
