As part of our Sustainment Department, the Technician is responsible for Corrective and Preventative Maintenance on a range of Safran Products deployed across the Oceanic region.

The successful applicant will join a team of dedicated technicians who conduct this maintenance at our Botany, NSW facility and various Defence bases across Australia and New Zealand.

The Role

Additional Information about the Role:

The Technician will carry out Corrective and Preventative Maintenance on industry-leading Optronic Systems and other Safran products within a structured Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) process, ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Responsibilities include:

On-site at our facility:





- Inbound diagnoses of customer reported defects

- Testing and disassembling the products according to the reason for removal

- Repair / rectification of identified faults

- Re-assembly and validation of sub-assemblies

- Integration of sub-assemblies

- Final acceptance testing

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

The Support Technician requires a variety of Mechanical and Electrical skills to conduct maintenance activities for Safran Products.

- Basic hand tools (Wrenches, ratchets, sockets etc.)

- Knowledge/experience to apply specified torque (Torque wrench setting and use)

- Electrical test equipment (digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, signal generator etc.)

- Soldering / Harness assembly (Limited to specific, infrequent tasks)

- Understanding of Mechanical documentation and technical drawings

- Understanding of electrical wiring and components documentation and technical drawings

- High attention to detail will be required for traceability and quality standards.
Advanced use of MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Access)

- Knowledge in continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, 5S etc)

- Tertiary qualification in the field of Aviation, Electronics, Optronics, Mechanics or equivalent.

- Proven experience in system support and maintenance.

Personal Requirements:

- Australian Citizen

- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security clearance to Negative Vetting Level 1

- Strong problem solving and analytical skills

- Excellent customer service skills

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Strong work ethic

- Proactive, rigorous and well organised
