About the Opportunity

The Technical Officer (Radioactive Facilities) will provide practical support to ensure the safe, compliant and efficient operation of nuclear materials research laboratories, including maintenance of equipment, plant and instrumentation. This will include contributing to research tasks and projects, as well as supporting the day-to-day upkeep of the laboratories and associated supporting infrastructure.

Your Duties and Responsibilities

- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment and instrumentation (with a particular focus on radiometric instrumentation)
- Prepare and update laboratory documentation, including risk assessments, work instructions and procedures
- Instruct laboratory users in the safe operation of laboratory equipment and facilities
- Assist in the management of nuclear and radioactive materials, including maintaining accurate inventory records




- Supervise maintenance staff and contractors undertaking work in laboratory facilities and associated infrastructure
