About The Role The Leader, Early Reading Policy and Practice leads the development of policy, curriculum and pedagogical approaches that support reading development from birth to age 8 across diverse learning contexts. They provide strategic leadership for emergent and early reading within South Australia’s public education system, with a focus on supporting all children to become successful readers who read for purpose and enjoyment.
A key component of the role is leading collaborative engagement across the Early Years Directorate and the broader Curriculum and Learning Division to ensure coherent and consistent messaging in early reading. The role consults with key stakeholders to inform the development of policy, guidance and professional learning. This ensures alignment across strategy, policy and practice and supports a shared understanding of appropriate and effective curriculum and pedagogical practice across the system.
Qualifications
Essential: Current full teacher registration
Desirable: Nil
Special conditions The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration
STL3 $152,287 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (12%)
