Medical Receptionist - Maternity Leave Cover

Dr Paul Froomes, Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist and Microbiome Specialist, is seeking a highly experienced Medical Receptionist to join his small, private, and busy specialist clinic on a full-time extended maternity leave contract, with the potential for the role to become ongoing.

This is a pivotal front-of-house role suited to a confident and capable professional who takes pride in delivering a high standard of patient care while managing the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced practice.

Located in Moonee Ponds, with occasional consulting sessions in Toorak, this position offers the opportunity to work closely within a focused, specialist setting and a close-knit team.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm

Key responsibilities

- Overseeing front desk operations with professionalism and efficiency
- Coordinating appointments and theatre bookings
- End-to-end billing, including Medicare, DVA, health fund claims, and batching
- Confidently explaining and facilitating patient treatment programs and products




- Liaising with hospitals, specialists, and day procedure centres
- Managing recalls, correspondence, and administrative workflows
- Banking and daily reconciliation

About you

- Demonstrated experience in a specialist medical practice (2+ years preferred)
- Strong knowledge of medical billing, including Medicare, DVA, and health funds
- Proficiency across medical practice management systems, with the ability to quickly adapt to new software, Gentu used in clinic
- Confident communicator with the ability to guide patients through treatment pathways and costs
- Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable in a busy, private clinic environment
- Professional presentation and a solid commitment to discretion and patient care
