Julyardi Aboriginal Corporation have new opportunities for a passionate and community-minded support worker to join a number of initiatives in Hedland — services dedicated to supporting the safety and wellbeing of people in the Hedland Aboriginal community.

Julyardi Aboriginal Corporation is a not-for-profit, client-focused organisation delivering services to the Hedland Aboriginal community. We operate with the guidance of our dedicated Elders, the Hedland Aboriginal Strong Leaders (HASL), and are committed to self-determination and community-led service delivery.

Position Duties:

- Support the delivery of our programs in Hedland
- Work with clients to identify strengths and needs and create goals
- Support clients to be safe
- Connect people to services that address their expressed needs
- Regular contact and home visits with local Aboriginal families
- Monitoring, reporting and data capture on client progress and program outcomes
- Identify gaps in services and refer clients to appropriate agencies
- Liaise with community groups, government bodies, and service providers around family and domestic violence and related community needs
- Work collaboratively with the Hedland Aboriginal Strong Leaders (HASL) and Hedland Aboriginal Emerging Leaders (HEAL)
- Arrange and attend meetings with services and clients as required
- Other duties appropriate to the role and skill level

Desirable Experience and Skills:

- Experience working with vulnerable women, children and families
- Knowledge and understanding of trauma and trauma-informed practice




- Strong understanding and proven ability to engage with and work within the local Aboriginal community
- Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in person- or family-centred approaches to service provision
- Strong knowledge and understanding of family and domestic violence frameworks and practice
- Literacy skills including developing and writing person-centred plans and reports
- Data entry, time management, ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
- Understanding of skilled boundaries including privacy, confidentiality, and respect

Qualifications and Experience:

- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families
- Experience working in a team environment
- Proficient computer literacy
- Right to work in Australia
- Unrestricted and current C class driver's licence
- National Police Certificate no more than 6 months old
- Working with Children Check (WA)
