Beacon Legal have partnered with a leading Australian professional services business in their search for a new Legal Counsel. They are looking to hire someone at the 2–5 PQE level, to be based in their Melbourne or Sydney office.

We're seeking a proactive and commercially minded generalist commercial lawyer to join a small but dynamic Legal, Risk & Compliance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Legal & Risk Officer, this role offers exposure to a broad range of in-house legal matters across a national business, with real visibility and influence.

This role will give you the opportunity to act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, work on interesting and diverse projects across the organisation, and play a key role in shaping the future direction of the business. You will be part of a high-performing, collaborative team with a strong focus on autonomy, development and work-life balance.

About the Role

/n

/n

- Provide commercial, pragmatic legal advice to internal stakeholders across the business

/n

- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements

/n





- Support the Chief Legal & Risk Officer on strategic projects and initiatives

/n

- Build strong relationships with multiple business units and develop a deep understanding of their operations

/n

- Identify opportunities where the legal function can add value and improve processes

/n

- Work across legal, risk and compliance matters in a broad generalist capacity

/n/n

What type of person will be successful?

/n

/n

- Admitted as a lawyer in Australia with a current practising certificate

/n

- 2+ years PQE gained in private practice or in-house

/n

- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to deliver practical, business-focused advice

/n

- Proactive self-starter who can manage multiple matters autonomously

/n

- Comfortable working in a rapid-paced environment with competing priorities

/n

- Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders

/n/n
