Purchasing Officer
Permanent | South East, Brisbane | Up to $110,000 package

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Purchasing Officer to join one of Australia’s leading electrical contracting and engineering businesses.

My client has delivered more than 320 projects nationwide across commercial, residential, infrastructure, health, education, data centres and government. With a strong pipeline of major projects, the business is seeking a commercially minded purchasing professional to support its continued growth.

The Role

Working closely with project managers, estimators, finance and site teams, you will coordinate the procurement of electrical materials, equipment and services across multiple projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Raising and managing purchase orders from creation through to delivery
- Sourcing electrical materials, equipment and project supplies
- Obtaining and comparing supplier quotations
- Negotiating pricing, lead times and commercial terms
- Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
- Monitoring stock availability, back orders and delivery schedules
- Coordinating deliveries across project sites and the head office
- Resolving pricing, invoice, quality and delivery discrepancies
- Maintaining accurate supplier, product and purchasing information
- Supporting project teams with urgent and specialist procurement needs
- Identifying opportunities to improve costs and purchasing processes
- Ensuring procurement activities align with project budgets and deadlines
- Assisting with supplier reviews and contract administration

About You

To be successful,



you will ideally offer:

- Previous experience as a Purchasing Officer, Procurement Officer or Buyer
- Experience within electrical contracting, construction, engineering, manufacturing or trades
- Strong supplier-management and negotiation skills
- Confidence reviewing quotations and commercial terms
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
- The ability to manage competing priorities and urgent project requirements
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Competence using purchasing, ERP and Microsoft Office systems
- A practical, proactive and solutions-focused approach

Knowledge of electrical products, construction materials or project-based procurement would be highly regarded.
