Merge Mechanical Services The mechanic will be responsible for the diagnosis, maintenance, servicing and repair of diesel-powered engines and associated systems in heavy vehicles and mobile plant equipment used in mining operations.
The role focuses on ensuring the reliability, safety and performance of diesel engines and mechanical systems in a high-demand operational environment. Benefits A very family-friendly business that values the well-being of its employees Task & responsibilities • Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements • Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues • Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner • Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems • Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components • Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery • Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users • Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g. repair of hydraulic systems, painting vehicles etc.)
• Keep logs of work and report on issues • Running diagnostic tests on vehicles • Analysing diagnostic test results • Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking system • Checking vehicle lighting systems • Test driving vehicles to gauge performance • Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks • Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles • Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist • Maintaining a parts inventory • Various other duties in line with this role as directed by site supervisor Qualification & experience • Relevant trade qualification (Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent) • At least 2 years of relevant post-qualification experience • Demonstrated experience working with diesel engines in heavy vehicles or mobile plant equipment • Robust diagnostic and fault-finding skills • Ability to interpret technical manuals and specifications • Experience in mining or heavy industry environments highly regarded Work Type: Full time Salary: $108680-108680 Job Publish: 09-08-2026 Job Expire: 08-09-2026 Apply on: Heavy Duty Mechanic Job here!
