About VEFN
The Victorian Environment Friends Network (VEFN) is the peak body supporting environmental Friends groups across Victoria. We connect, inspire, engage and empower individuals, groups and networks working to protect and restore the natural environment.
Today, VEFN supports a network of more than 180 environmental Friends groups and over 16,000 volunteers, helping communities collaborate, share knowledge and build their capacity to care for Victoria's unique landscapes and biodiversity.
About the role
This position forms part of VEFN's Capacity Building Project, established to strengthen the capability and long-term sustainability of environmental volunteer groups across Victoria.
Reporting to the VEFN Convenor, you'll lead the delivery of the project while working as part of a small project team, including the Communications Assistance role. You'll coordinate regional engagement, facilitate partnerships, oversee project delivery and help develop practical, long-term strategies that strengthen environmental volunteering across Victoria.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the planning and delivery of the Capacity Building Project.
- Building strong relationships with environmental groups, councils, agencies and partner organisations.
- Coordinating regional workshops, forums and collaborative initiatives.
- Identifying opportunities to strengthen regional collaboration and volunteer capacity.
- Preparing project reports, practical resources and funding strategies.
- Supporting the long-term sustainability and growth of VEFN's capacity building initiatives.
About you
We're looking for someone who has:
- Demonstrated experience in project management and delivery.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational, planning and communication skills.
- Experience facilitating collaboration across diverse groups and organisations.
- The ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- An interest in environmental conservation, community engagement or the not-for-profit sector.
What we offer
- Approximately 19 hours per week (part-time maximum-term to 30 June 2028, with contractor arrangements also considered).
- Approximately $50,000 per annum, with flexibility for additional hours where project requirements and funding permit.
- Flexible, primarily online working arrangements, with occasional meetings, workshops and regional engagement across greater Melbourne.
- The chance to lead a significant project that will strengthen environmental volunteering and community collaboration across Victoria.
Why this role?
This role would suit an experienced project manager, community engagement professional, environmental practitioner or not-for-profit leader looking to make a lasting contribution to environmental volunteering in Victoria. If you're passionate about bringing people together, building partnerships and creating practical outcomes that support nature and local communities, we'd love to hear from you.
