YOUR ROLE
The Strategic Finance Business Analyst sits within the Group Finance FP&A; team, which manages consolidated budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting across MACS schools and offices. The role will be instrumental in uplifting MACS’s modelling, reporting and strategic insight capabilities through the use of Advanced Excel, visualisation tools such as Power BI, and a focus on continuous improvement to support effective financial decision-making.
This is a 2-year fixed-term contract
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Build, develop and maintain robust financial models with a focus on accuracy and simplicity; meaningfully interpreting complex data sets to assess historical performance and forecast future financial outcomes for MACS schools, supporting effective decision-making and long-term financial sustainability
- Work to improve and automate inputs and outputs for various key drivers across directorate and school reporting, including multiple sites, working with information technology teams to improve processes and automate updating of data.
- Support the office and school FP&A; team via development of, and improvements in, user-friendly dashboards and other front-end stakeholder requirements, as well as supporting the wider MACS Finance teams with data analytic requirements
- Assisting with the annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes
- Identify, define, communicate, and advocate for solutions that will maximise the value delivered by the organisation or business units to stakeholders, defining user stories and specifications to assist in development of “to be” processes, implementing new or updated processes and supporting and informing stakeholders during changes.
ABOUT YOU
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with demonstrated experience in data analytics tools such as Power Query, Power BI, SQL or Tableau.
- Strong understanding of financial modelling fundamentals including data integrity, relationships and drivers.
- Ability to evaluate and translate macro and microeconomic factors into financial scenarios, presenting high value predictive analytical outcomes.
- Good understanding of financial and/or management accounting principles
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate and communicate complex financial scenarios to non-financial stakeholders
- Analytical mindset, strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and an inquisitive nature to question the “why” beyond the process
