About the directorate

The Corporate
Services Directorate ensures the OCG is credible, responsive and
accountable. We focus on providing high quality customer service to the OCG and

our broader stakeholders.

The team embaraces flexible working and
career development. Our office is based in Strawberry Hills, however staff have access to hybid work models.
This is a term role to the end of December
2026. The vacancy has arisen from a staff member who is temporarily seconding

in another NSW Government agency. This successful candidate for this role will

receive the below career experiences:

- Help complete month-end financial reporting processes and support forecasting exercises
- Advise and support the Director (and other senior leaders) as they prepare the 2026-27 budget, including preparing costings and providing advice on trade-off choices
- Support the preparation of the agency’s end of year accounts, including the review and assurance of critical data
- Support systems and process change across a large organisation – our agency is transitioning to a new Governmet ERP system – ‘MyWork Zone’




- Identify opportunities to improve financial policies and processes, and to be empowered to implement changes (either autonomously or in teams with others)
- Lead research and investigations on high sensitivity and broad impact financial matters, as required

About the role

The
role supports the overall budgeting and financial reporting processes of the
agency. We regularly provide advice to colleagues and senior stakeholders on
the agency’s budget performance and its compliance with policies. This role is
being advertised at an exciting time, while the organisation responds to an
external Inquiry that has identified improvements to systems, processes and
governance. We are also rebuilding a number of core financial processes to
better support our staff. Finally, our organisation is embarking on a
transition to a current ERP system and this role will play a central role in that

project.

While technical
accounting qualifications are not mandatory, they are highly valued. As is

experience working in a government agency or similarly large organisation. The

type of person we are seeking will:

- Use appropriate systems and processes to review, maintain and manage accounting and financial information
- Enjoy analysing data and running assurance processes to ensure public resources are well manged
- Support colleagues across the organisation to solve problems or identify solutions when it comes to managing budgets. This includes helping staff who are in roles that are critical to child safety but who do not have a strong technical background in financial management.




- Help senior management in analysing the agency’s financial management requirements.
- Be able to represent the organisation in meetings with NSW Treasury, the Audit Office and external parties as needed.
- Develop and analyse management reports. We require someone who can explain complex financial matters in a digestible way to non-financial stakeholders.
- Maintain a knowledge of management accounting and budgeting procedures and methodologies.
- Enjoy problem solving.
