Utilise your research expertise to support threatened fauna conservation on cattle in the Northern Territory and northern Western Australia.

About the Position

The Research Fellow - Protecting Threatened Species on Cattle Properties will support the identification of best-bet practices to protect fauna on cattle properties in the Northern Territory and northern Western Australia.

You will undertake applied research to describe the range and habitat of threatened species that overlap with cattle stations across the Northern Territory and northern Western Australia. Combining ecological expertise and consultation with taxa experts, you will identify practices that could mitigate the threat to these species from cattle production.

The position operates:

- At Level A: under supervision with guidance from senior researchers, contributing to defined research activities, or
- At Level B: with increasing independence, contributing to and/or leading components of research and project delivery

About You

To be successful, you will require:

- PhD (or near completion) in ecology or similar
- Demonstrated ability to use GIS to create maps and analyse spatial data
- Emerging ability to produce research outputs (e.g. reports, publications)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to the University’s values

Additionally For Level B

- Demonstrated track record of research outputs (e.g. publications, reports)
- Evidence of conducting independent research and contributing to project design
- At least 12 months of relevant postdoctoral or equivalent research experience

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at HE Academic Level A/B. The base salary will be in the range of $76,604.18 to $114,924.35 for Level A or $116,429.43 to $137,659.65 for Level B per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $89,626.89 to $134,461.49 for Level A or $136,222.43 to $161,061.79 for Level B per annum, including 17% superannuation.
