Who we are looking for in Network Operations Officer roles:-
We are looking for people who enjoy solving technical problems, working with others and contributing to services that matter. You will bring a strong customer focus, sound judgement, clear communication skills and the ability to work across both operational support and improvement activities.
Network Operations Officer PSL 5 role:
This role is ideal for someone who has a solid foundation in network operations and wants to continue developing in a secure, enterprise-scale ICT environment. You will be supported to apply your technical skills, follow established procedures, help resolve incidents and service requests, contribute to routine network changes and maintain clear operational documentation.
- Support network monitoring, incident investigation and service request resolution.
- Assist with network hardware, cabling, switching, wireless and connectivity activities.
- Contribute to approved standard and routine network changes.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation and operational notes.
- Work collaboratively with the Parliamentary ICT service desk, senior network officers, engineers and other stakeholders.
Senior Network Operations Officer PSL6 role:
This role is suited to someone with deeper network operations experience who is ready to take on more complex work and help shape better operational outcomes. You will use your technical judgement to resolve network issues, coordinate changes, support project delivery, improve procedures and provide practical guidance to other team members.
- Investigate and resolve more complex network incidents and service requests.
- Plan, coordinate and implement approved network changes.
- Support the effective operation and security of Parliamentary ICT network technologies.
- Contribute to network-related projects, refresh activities and operational transition work.
- Support installation, configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting of network hardware and software.
- Contribute to network standards, documentation, procedures and continuous improvement.
Job Specific Requirements:
- The successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
- Relevant academic and/or professional qualifications in Information Technology, networking, cyber security or a related computing field are desirable.
- Experience in an enterprise network setting would be highly regarded, including exposure to switches, routing, local area network technologies, wide area network technologies, software-defined wide area network technologies, wireless access points, firewalls, remote access, load-balancing, cloud networking, network monitoring, incident management, problem management, change management, installation, configuration, testing and troubleshooting.
- Awareness of government ICT security frameworks, including the Information Security Manual, Essential Eight and Protective Security Policy Framework, would be highly regarded.
- The roles may require participation in an on-call ICT support roster and occasional out-of-hours work to support operational requirements, project activities and parliamentary sitting periods.
