We’re seeking Lifeguard to join our team supporting the Australian Defence Force through our ESS business.

ESS delivers the best hospitality and support services to remote and Defence sites across Australia. From mess halls to accommodation and recreation facilities, our teams keep Defence communities running smoothly every day.

Sport, Recreation & Aquatic Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations of the pool, ensuring compliance with water quality, safety, and legislative standards.
Supervise facility users andmaintainemergency response readiness, including lifeguard coverage.
Lead inspections, enforce site-specific safety instructions, andmaintaincompliance documentation.
Support Sport & Recreation compliance standards across all fitness and aquatic areas.
Conduct fitness centre inductions and provide customer support to facility users.
Ensure facilities and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and protected for use.
Respond to emergencies, including first aid and oxygen administration whererequired.
Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly.
Contribute to a proactive culture of safety,



wellbeing, teamwork, and professionalism.

What we are looking for:

You may be suited to this role if you bring experience in fitness, aquatic services, hospitality, or facilities support, along with a solid commitment to safety and teamwork.
3+ years’ experience in a fitness, aquatic, recreation, or supervisory role (for Sport & Recreation positions)
Current Lifeguard Award (for aquatic roles)
Level 1 First Aid & CPR, with ability to administer oxygen
Friendly, reliable, and qualified withstrong communicationskills
Comfortable working in structured, high-compliance Defence environments
Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence
Australian Citizenship is mandatory (Defence security clearancerequired)
Ability to obtain andmaintaina National Police Check and Defence clearance
