About your new role / Key Responsibilities:
Perform daily maintenance, inspections, and repairs on the site's fleet of kiln cars.
Complete routine block alignment, block replacement, and soft seal inspections and replacement.
Inspect kiln car frames and skirts for damage and carry out repairs as required.
Assist with complete kiln car rebuilds, including stripping old materials and rebuilding to specification.
Perform steel fabrication, cutting, welding, and repairs to kiln car frames and structures.
Install castable, Cal-Sil boards, vermiculite, Kao Wool, scoria, and kiln blocks to manufacturer specifications.
Conduct quality inspections on completed kiln cars prior to Project Engineer sign-off.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area, including the kiln car repair facility.




Follow all Workplace Health & Safety procedures and company policies.
Assist with general maintenance duties and other tasks as required.

Qualifications and Experience:
Experience in steel fabrication and welding a bonus.
Sound mechanical maintenance and repair experience within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Robust problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
Forklift Licence highly regarded.
Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship, and housekeeping.
Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work effectively within a team.
