Village Maintenance Worker - The Pavilion North Kirra
Aura is a specialist retirement living developer and operator, developing and managing medium to high end retirement communities in South-East Queensland. We are a small but rapidly growing company with a positive and inclusive work culture.
About the role
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Village Maintenance Worker for our village located on the southern end of the Gold Coast. In this job-share arrangement, you will be working 19 hours per week.
You must be physically fit for your age as many of the tasks are manual. You may be required to attend to emergency situations at the Village outside normal working hours, including weekends, so reasonable proximity to North Kirra will be advantageous.
About You
Since this role involves working directly in residents' homes, a clean, tidy and professional appearance is essential at all times (uniform provided). We're looking for someone who takes genuine pride in their work and holds themselves to a high standard, rather than settling for "good enough". You'll also need to work confidently with minimal supervision — spotting what needs doing and getting on with it proactively.
Key responsibilities:
Perform basic installations, assembling, fitting, repairs and replacements as needed.
Undertake minor plumbing repairs, eg changing washers, repairing leaks, sprinkler heads etc.
Perform minor carpentry works, eg assembling flat-packed furniture, hanging artworks, tightening screws, hinges, etc.
Organise and supervise specialist tradespeople to undertake repairs and maintenance as required.
Ensure the Village is presentable at all times by proactively checking and cleaning the property and undertaking any necessary work as required.
The successful applicant will be a team player and:
Possess relevant qualifications in carpentry, plumbing or electrical trades and be able to prove your qualifications.
Skilled experience in the construction and building industry and a strong understanding of building practices.
Facility maintenance experience desirable, but not essential.
Be willing to take and follow direction.
Be proactive, versatile and responsive to change.
Possess transparent verbal and written communication skills.
Remain calm, courteous and resilient under pressure.
Be computer-literate and have an understanding of the Microsoft office suite.
Retirement Village experience is highly desirable, but not essential. Immediate start available.
