This contract opportunity will suit a qualified Sport and Exercise Physician / Registrar. Based in Brisbane, this role requires the provision of clinical care of QAS Athletes for the equivalent of 1 day per week.
As a QAS Sports Doctor you will be responsible for:
Delivery of high-performance medical support to individual athletes and sport programs demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of a proactive care model and its role in optimising athlete availability and improving sports performance.
Maintain skilled and effective working relationships with athletes, coaches and other QAS support staff. Communicate relevant outcomes of athlete consults with key contacts within athlete Performance Support Teams in a timely manner.
Develop a strong and genuine connection with performance support team members to foster collaboration, efficiencies and positive health and performance outcomes.
Facilitate the early diagnosis and management of acute or persistent injury presentations and their rehabilitation. A close working relationship with the QAS Performance Support Team is important as the athlete works to maintain levels of fitness and prepare to return to training and competition.
Provide appropriate referrals for imaging, pathology, and other investigations using QAS preferred providers wherever possible.
Provide appropriate referrals for QAS-supported athletes to external specialists, and/or the Mental Health Referral Network.
Attend QAS Swimming Daily Performance Environments to build connection with athletes, coaches and PST members. This will be built into the schedule of the role and involve attendance at St Peter's Western and Rackley (Chandler) swimming programs approximately once a month.
Complete NIN athlete medical screenings, and associated sport-specific assessments (e.g concussion baseline assessments).
From time to time, attend performance support meetings as agreed with the Head of Health or CMO, to provide guidance around individual athlete management, and/or proactive measures which aim to further improve athlete performance.
Attend Core Multidisciplinary Team (CMT) meetings as requested by the CMO or Head of Health to support the management of potential disordered eating concerned.
Upload accurate and timely consultation details into the QAS Athlete Management System (AMS) within 48 hours of consulting with an athlete.
Meet with the QAS Chief Medical Officer, as appropriate, to review complex cases, discuss system improvements and review individual performance and objective plans (iPOPs).
Be familiar with QAS Policies, Guidelines and Procedures related to the medical profession.
