The Operations Area Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing daily logistics operations, driving process improvements, ensuring safety and compliance, and leading teams to meet Amazon's customer promise.
As an AM, you'll be directly responsible for supervising a team of Shift Managers and their direct reports while reporting to the Site Lead of your Delivery Station.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and develop a team of Shift Managers and their direct reports.
Proxy duties for the Site Lead.
Review the operational forecast and determine productivity requirements for the delivery station.
Support all safety programs to ensure a safe work workplace for all associates and Delivery service providers.
Proactively identify and lead process improvement initiatives and Lean tools.
Analyze shift performance against relevant business objectives and take actions to improve operational excellence.
Manage resource (manpower) plans and oversee shifts patterns managed by direct reports, including hours booking and staff holiday management.
A Day in the Life
You will be an inspiring leader within our Delivery Stations, working to continuously improve the efficiency of delivery processes.
You will ensure that customer orders are delivered as quickly, accurately, and cost‐effectively as possible, and that all workflows run smoothly to meet customer expectations.
About the Team
Amazon Logistics (AMZL) handles 'last mile' delivery duties in partnership with third‐party distribution businesses.
We employ creative thinking and continuous improvement initiatives to get millions of physical products into the hands of our customers.
Our goal is to make our customers' delivery experience as smooth as possible while focusing on continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
2+ years of employee and performance management experience.
2+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience.
Experience hiring and developing highly effective and diverse teams.
Experience developing and managing a high‐performing team.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with process improvements (Lean Six Sigma and/or Kaizen).
Experience in problem solving and delivering results.
Experience in dealing with contingent workforce.
