About the role
As an Aboriginal Consultant Officer at the Child Wellbeing Unit you will be joining a team of Child Protection and Wellbeing experts who conduct Child Protection and Wellbeing risk appraisals as well as assist and advise NSW Health workers to respond to vulnerable children, young people and families.
The Aboriginal Consultant Officer provides specialist advice and support to the team, and engages with stakeholders to increase confidence, awareness and appropriate responses to Aboriginal children and families for early intervention to prevent escalation into the statutory system.
The Western Child Wellbeing Unit receives telephone calls and e-reports from health workers in the geographical area of the local health districts of Western Sydney, South Western Sydney, Nepean Blue Mountains, Western NSW and Far West, as well as staff from the Children's Hospital Westmead.
