As our Community Development Officer with a focus on inclusion, you'll lead initiatives that remove barriers to participation, strengthen social connections and improve the wellbeing of people who experience disadvantage or exclusion. You'll work alongside community members, service providers and local organisations to plan, coordinate and deliver programs that create lasting change.
You'll bring a strong commitment to supporting people who experience disadvantage and exclusion, including people experiencing homelessness and members of the LGBTIQA+ community. You'll listen to community needs, build trusted relationships and develop practical, community led responses that foster belonging and inclusion.

Key responsibilities of this position include:
Plan, coordinate and deliver community development programs and projects that build connection, inclusion and resilience across Launceston.
Work directly with community members, groups and service providers to identify needs and shape practical, place based responses.
Build and maintain strong, trusted partnerships across Council, government,



non government agencies and community organisations.
Identify funding opportunities and support high quality grant applications that back community initiatives.
Prepare and deliver an annual work plan, monitoring and evaluating outcomes so programs stay responsive to community need.
About You
We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:
Demonstrated knowledge and hands on experience applying contemporary community development principles, including strength based, place based and inclusive practice.
Proven experience planning, coordinating and delivering community development programs or projects, from identifying community needs through to monitoring and evaluating outcomes.
A track record of building respectful, productive relationships with community members, community groups, government and non government agencies and other stakeholders.
Experience working with people and communities experiencing vulnerability, and the ability to engage respectfully and inclusively with people from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, people with disability and LGBTIQA+ communities.
Experience identifying funding opportunities and preparing high quality grant applications, including needs analysis, budgets and reporting.
A current Class C driver's licence, a Working with Vulnerable People registration,



and a current First Aid certificate including CPR, or a willingness to obtain these.
