Are you an experienced workshop leader with a strong background in cable repair, electrical services, or manufacturing? We're looking for a proactive Workshop Supervisor to join our Cable Services team in Thornton, driving safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
As the Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing and developing a team of up to 10 employees while overseeing day-to-day workshop operations, production scheduling, customer support, inventory management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
About the Role
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring workshop performance meets customer expectations, production targets, and quality standards. You will provide technical support to customers and workshop personnel, mentor and develop employees, and work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, supervise, mentor and develop a high-performing workshop team.
Manage production schedules to achieve delivery targets and customer commitments.
Provide technical support and advice to customers and workshop personnel.
Prepare quotations and damage reports, ensuring competitive and accurate pricing.
Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Monitor inventory levels, stock control processes and stocktakes.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality and productivity.
Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards and company procedures.
Promote a strong safety culture through toolbox talks, inspections, risk assessments and employee engagement.
Support workshop reporting,
forecasting and operational performance reviews.
What You'll Bring
Essential
Trade qualification or similar qualification in Electrical or Cable Repair.
Demonstrated experience within a cable repair facility.
Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage both technical and people-related challenges.
Sound understanding of electrical equipment applications within the mining industry.
Strong time management and organisational skills.
Experience using Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
Previous leadership or people management experience.
Leadership and management training.
Cable Repairer qualifications.
Experience preparing quotations, estimates and costings.
Experience using Microsoft Dynamics Finance & Operations.
