We're looking for an experienced procurement professional to join a small team to support end-to-end procurement activities, improve procurement practices, and help shape the future of procurement across a diverse organisation for approximately 3-6 months.
This can be either working a .08 or full time.
You'll play a key role in delivering value-for-money outcomes while supporting governance, contract management, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement.
This role combines hands‐on procurement delivery with strategic improvement initiatives, making it ideal for someone who enjoys balancing operational excellence with process improvement.
Key responsibilities
Lead medium-complexity end-to-end procurement projects across capital works and professional services.
Develop procurement strategies, market approaches, evaluation methodologies, and tender documentation.
Manage procurement processes from planning through to contract award.
Provide expert procurement advice to internal stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with procurement policies, governance requirements, and legislative obligations.
Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
Provide procurement guidance and quality assurance across the organisation.
Support business units with procurement planning and scheduling.
Review procurement documentation to ensure consistency and best practice.
Build solid relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
Promote sustainable procurement principles and sound commercial decision-making.
Contribute to procurement improvement initiatives,
including contract management, templates, reporting, and procurement systems.
Develop practical tools, guides, and resources that improve procurement capability.
Support implementation of procurement and contract management frameworks.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, commercial outcomes, and organisational value.
Ensure procurement activities meet policy, legislative, and audit requirements.
Maintain high standards of probity, transparency, and accountability.
Contribute to continuous improvement and organisational change initiatives.
About you
Have experience working in Local Government - Essential
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Commerce, or a related discipline (CIPS or equivalent highly regarded).
Demonstrated experience delivering end-to-end procurement in a complex organisation.
Experience across categories such as capital works, engineering, infrastructure, facilities, property, operations, or professional services.
Strong knowledge of procurement governance, contract management, and legislative compliance.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills.
Experience developing procurement documentation, evaluation reports, and commercial recommendations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives and procurement capability uplift.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and procurement or ERP systems.
