Health & Safety Senior Advisor (Renewable Energy) Duration: 12 months (subject for extension) Site location: Port Hedland Roster: 8:6 FIFO
Job summary
The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting workplace health and safety through field engagement, coaching, mentoring, risk management, assurance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Health & Safety Management System.
Provide health and safety advice to operational leaders to support achievement of safety objectives and performance targets.
Coach and mentor employees and contractors to build capability and confidence in health and safety compliance, risk management, and assurance activities.
Promote proactive hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk mitigation across operational activities.
Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective actions.
Participate in contractor management processes and support contractor compliance with site requirements.
Conduct workplace inspections, field interactions, audits, and verification activities.
Review safety documentation and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
Support the development and delivery of health and safety initiatives, campaigns, and awareness programs.
Contribute to major hazard management activities and critical risk control verification programs.
Prepare and maintain safety reports, records, and performance metrics.
Build positive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to strengthen safety performance and culture.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of Health & Safety experience within construction, mining, processing, oil & gas, heavy industry, or related operational environments.
Demonstrated experience in contractor management and workplace risk management.
Strong understanding of Health & Safety Management Systems and relevant standards, including ISO *****.
Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
Robust communication, stakeholder engagement, coaching, and influencing skills.
Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of an organisation.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities within operational environments.
Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Current driver's licence.
Tertiary qualification in Workplace Health & Safety or a related discipline.
ICAM or equivalent Incident Investigation qualification.
Internal Auditor qualification in Health & Safety Management Systems.
