Job Description
The Parks and Open Space Team provides delivery of maintenance activities related to Townsville's existing public infrastructure within parks, open spaces, including cemeteries.
These areas provide a range of services including recreational and cultural activities for both residents and visitors across the Townsville Region.
These positions complete a range of assigned maintenance and functional activities which includes mowing, laying turf, planting, whipper snipping, gardening, weeding, mulching, hedging, poisoning, tree trimming and basic irrigation.
You will also drive manual light trucks which includes loading, unloading and tying down loads.
You'll need to be physically fit to perform the variety of work and be able to work in the outdoors in a hot environment.
You'll be part of a great working culture that is driven to have our parks and open spaces look fantastic and operate in a secure manner for the Community.
A variety of training is provided and there are ample opportunities to progress into other roles within the team.

About the Candidate
To be eligible to apply for these roles, you must have a Manual "C" class licence and a Construction Industry White Card ****** QLD).
Desirable skills and tickets are below.




While these skills and tickets are desired, we are open to candidates who don't yet have these tickets but are eager to obtain them through Council:
"MR" class licence (highly desirable)
Chainsaw Ticket (Level 2),
Agricultural Chemical Distribution Certificate (ACDC)
Plant Operators Certificates of Competency for the types and classes of plant utilised in this position
Traffic Management Implementation (TMI)
First Aid Certificate
Certificate II in Arboriculture and/or Certificate II in Horticulture
Safe Working Near Live Exposed Parts Certificate
