NSW Field Operations Manager, Last-Mile & Removals
We're not building another transport company. We're redefining the bulky last-mile category. We've been operating in Sydney for 12 months, and now we're scaling it.
PicUp moves the things too big for a car: furniture, appliances, bulky packages for businesses; small moves, removals, junk removal for residents. We do it through a managed network of independent haulers running utes, cargo vans and trucks, backed by technology, data and automation rather than clipboards and a phone.
We've built a solid operation across South East Queensland and a growing one in Sydney. Now we need an operator to own that market, scale it, and grow into NSW State Manager as it expands.
This is a field role, not a desk role. Roughly 80% of your week is with drivers, customers and client sites. The other 20% is performance, capacity planning and making the operation sharper. You'll report directly to the CEO with no layers in between, and an established CS team handles customer enquiries and job monitoring so you stay in the field where you're valuable.
What you'll own
Service delivery across B2B/B2B2C last-mile for retailers and enterprise clients, plus DTC removals, small moves and junk removal.
Recruiting, onboarding, training and holding accountable owner-drivers and two-person crews.
Daily fleet availability, dispatch support and live resolution when jobs go sideways.
Field audits, ride-alongs and real-time coaching against PicUp's industry-leading service standards.
Investigating complaints, damages, failed deliveries and safety incidents on the ground.




Owning the numbers that matter (DIFOT, ratings, claims, utilisation, cost per job, gross margin) and turning them into field actions.
Building the SOPs, training and capacity plans ahead of each new client launch.
The AI/Automation edge
We want you in the field executing a premium level of service to our clients and customers, not buried in spreadsheets building and populating reports by hand. Our target is to strip out up to 90% of the manual admin this role traditionally carries.
You don't need to be a developer or an AI expert. You do need to be genuinely curious about the tools and willing to learn and adopt them. We'll back you to use AI and no-code tools to automate reporting, build dashboards and alerts, and cut the repetitive admin. If your instinct when you see a manual process is "why isn't this automated yet," you'll fit.
PicUp operates seven days. During your first 12 months building NSW, you'll be in the field on some weekends when training, service recovery or client demand calls for it. As the operation matures, weekend coverage distributes across the roster and contingencies you build.
Who you are
5-10 years in transport, removals, courier, home delivery or last-mile.



We care more about what you've personally owned than years on paper.
You've supervised drivers, owner-drivers or crews, and you're comfortable giving direct feedback and addressing poor performance.
You know Sydney's geography and transport environment like the back of your hand.
You can read performance data and turn it into action.
You take ownership when something breaks, and you'll get in the vehicle or attend the site yourself when it matters.
Based in Sydney. This is an in-market field role, not remote.
You present very well and carry yourself professionally with everyone you deal with, from client management and warehouse teams to end customers and drivers. You understand you're the face of PicUp on the ground, and you represent the business accordingly.
Current Australian licence, full working rights, and the physical capability to assist with deliveries when genuinely needed.
Bulky/furniture, two-person delivery, and large scale fleet management experience all rate highly.
