Position Information
Gunnedah High School is a welcoming, comprehensive Connected Community Strategy High School. Located 78 kilometres west of Tamworth in the New England region of NSW, it serves Gunnedah and surrounding rural areas, including Boggabri, Mullaley, and Somerton. With a current enrolment of 433 students, 57% identifying as Aboriginal, the school is committed to meeting diverse student needs through tailored learning pathways and career-focused opportunities.
The school features a Special Education Unit with five MC classes, one IM class, and a Tutorial Centre from ****, ensuring every student is known, valued, and cared for. Gunnedah High emphasises achievement and participation in academic, cultural, and sporting pursuits, celebrating student success within the school and the broader community. Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach Music (7-12).
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to faculty planning, extra-curricular activities, and develop and sustain positive relationships with students, staff and the wider community.




Capacity to deliver a variety of contextually relevant and differentiated learning experiences that will result in student growth across the areas of performing, composing, listening and musicology.
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal Education policies, including the Connected Communities Strategy.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
