Further develop your professional expertise in Ophthalmology with a 12-month appointment as an Unaccredited Ophthalmology Surgery Registrar.
Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospital is the principle tertiary hospital within the region and provides a broad range of referral services in all specialist areas to Darwin, the Top End of the NT, Western Australia and South-East Asia.
Currently, the Royal Darwin Hospital is accepting applications for one
Unaccredited Ophthalmology Registrar
starting in February ****.
Under the direction of Dr Nishantha Wijesinghe, a senior ophthalmology consultant and highly skilled cataract surgeon, and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of ophthalmologist with special interests in areas such as medical retina, uveitis, paediatrics, and oculoplastics, you will further develop your specialist skills by providing timely and high-quality ophthalmology services to patients at the Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospitals.
Your key duties will include the admission, management and discharge of patients under the supervision of the on‐duty Specialist, preparing patients for eye surgery, clinical out patients service and patient management, supervision of junior medical and clinical staff, and emergency after‐hours care as rostered. In addition, you will have the chance to participate in continuous medial education, professional development, peer review,
research and quality improvement activities.
To be successful you are required to be eligible for appropriate registration with the Medical Board of Australia, have relevant training and experience in Ophthalmology, demonstrated experience as a Resident Medical Officer and a commitment to delivering high-quality care to patients.
