Gallagher Bassett is seeking a highly experienced Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) Manager to support our Long Tail General Liability and Medical Negligence portfolio within the General Insurance division. In this role, you will lead the strategic and operational delivery of dispute resolution activities, ensuring timely, fair and compliant outcomes across complex and sensitive claims matters.
You will play a critical role in driving early resolution strategies, managing stakeholder relationships, and embedding best practice ADR approaches aligned with regulatory frameworks, including AFCA, the General Insurance Code of Practice, and Model Litigant obligations.
On a day to day basis, you will:
Lead and oversee alternative dispute resolution strategies across general liability and medical negligence claims.
Drive early engagement with unrepresented claimants to facilitate timely and cost-effective resolution outcomes.
Apply ADR techniques including negotiation, conciliation and mediation to resolve disputes prior to litigation.
Prepare for and lead conciliation conferences, ensuring fair and compliant outcomes.
Provide expert guidance to claims teams on dispute resolution approaches and complex case management.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, legal representatives and third parties.
Ensure all dispute resolution activities align with AFCA requirements, the General Insurance Code of Practice and regulatory expectations.
Identify trends, risks and opportunities for continuous improvement in dispute resolution processes.




Contribute to strategy development and continuous improvement initiatives across the Long Tail portfolio.
About You
You are an experienced dispute resolution or claims leader with deep expertise in general insurance, particularly within long tail claims such as general liability and medical negligence. You are highly skilled in navigating complex matters, influencing stakeholders and achieving balanced outcomes.
We're looking for:
Extensive experience in general insurance claims, dispute resolution or litigation management.
Strong knowledge of general liability and/or medical negligence claims.
Demonstrated experience applying ADR methodologies (negotiation, conciliation, mediation).
Deep understanding of AFCA, General Insurance Code of Practice and regulatory requirements.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Strong leadership capability with experience influencing and coaching teams.
Highly organised with ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.
Analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on commercially sound outcomes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and claims management systems.
