This recruitment is being managed by Pallium Construction Accountants on behalf of one of our valued construction clients.
Our client is a well-established and growing bricklaying company seeking an experienced
Accounts & Payroll Officer
to become an integral part of their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems before they arise, and keeping the financial side of a successful business running smoothly. If you're proactive, highly organised and enjoy improving systems and processes, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
Reporting directly to management, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day finance and administration of the business, including:
End-to-end payroll processing.
Accounts payable and supplier payment management.
Accounts receivable and debtor management.
Preparing and issuing customer invoices.
Daily bank reconciliations.
Processing and lodging superannuation payments.
Monitoring PAYG, GST, payroll tax and other statutory obligations.
Assisting with BAS preparation and compliance requirements.
Maintaining accurate accounting records within Xero.
Liaising with management, suppliers and customers.
Liaising with the company's external accountants regarding taxation and compliance matters.
Preparing financial reports for management.
Identifying opportunities to improve systems,



processes and efficiencies.
Ensuring all financial obligations and reporting deadlines are met.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
Has at least
5 years' experience
in bookkeeping, payroll or accounts.
Has strong knowledge of payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Is highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
Can work independently and take ownership of their role.
Is proactive and enjoys identifying solutions before problems arise.
Can prioritise competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Is confident using accounting software (Xero experience highly regarded).
Understands the importance of confidentiality and professionalism.
Construction industry experience will be highly regarded.
