OverviewAbout The Role The primary purpose of the Diesel Mechanic is to service, inspection and repair of Qube mobile machinery and ancillary equipment (owned, partially owned, hired and/or leased to Qube).
ResponsibilitiesCarry out mechanical repairs and workshop duties to a high standardMaintain strong productivity and ensure work is completed on timeAssist in training and or supervise Apprentices as requiredKeep the workshop clean and tidyObtain Work Orders before commencing any work and follow any other necessary proceduresAccurately complete work orders and repair documentationIdentify required parts and communicate major part needs to the Supervisor to avoid delaysFollow safe work procedures, including SLAM and lock‐out/tag‐out requirementsAdhere to Qube safety standards, SWIs, and all site and road safety rulesReport any incidents or hazards immediatelySafety, Health & EnvironmentFollow all safety, health, and environmental procedures and take reasonable care for your own safety and that of othersUse required PPE at all times and ensure safe operation of tools and equipmentReport hazards, incidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions immediatelyParticipate in risk assessments and support the implementation of effective controlsStop work and notify a supervisor if there is any immediate dangerMaintain a respectful, harassment‐free workplace and engage in safe work practicesProtect the environment by preventing pollution and following environmental guidelinesArrive fit for work and free from fatigue, drugs, or alcoholTake part in required HSE training and keep relevant competencies currentSupport company HSE initiatives, including Zero Harm, and contribute to continuous improvementQualifications/Experience RequiredHeavy Rigid licenceHeavy Duty Diesel Mechanic trade certificateMinimum of two years' experience in a similar roleExperience in mobile plant equipment.
Heavy Vehicle mobile mining equipment preferredSound interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of peopleSound skills using Microsoft Office, Excel and Power pointAbility to work autonomously using proactive approach to task resolutionA High Risk Forklift LicenceAUR***** Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical TechnologySenior First Aid CertificateStrong Heavy Duty Diesel Fitter fault finding skillsKnowledge and understanding of applicable Commonwealth/State Safety and Environmental legislation and standardsKey Competencies/Skills RequiredAn interest in Heavy Vehicle equipmentA reasonable level of physical fitnessAttention to detail with good hand eye co-ordinationStrong communication skills including effective listening skillsFlexible and adaptable with the ability to work effectively in a demanding environmentAbility to work autonomously using a proactive approach to task resolutionDeliver effective mechanical decisions to ensure mobile machinery reliability and operabilityAbout YouYou will be committed to safety in the workplace and be committed to 100% Chain of Responsibility compliance.
