The Role
We are currently seeking a Group Lead, Coasts and Marine (NSW) to join our New South Wales team, based in Parramatta.
This key leadership role is part of our national Coast and Marine team.
You will work closely with the National Lead, senior leaders, and technical specialists across Australia to grow our NSW presence, strengthen client relationships, and lead the delivery of high‐quality coastal and marine projects.
The role is suited to a senior coastal engineer or senior coastal scientist who is ready to step into a broader leadership position across technical delivery, team leadership, client engagement, and business development.
We are looking for someone with strong consulting experience, sound commercial awareness, and ideally, hands‐on knowledge of the NSW coastal and estuarine context.
Qualifications and Experience
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Coastal/Marine Sciences or a related field.
Postgraduate qualifications in coastal engineering, science, oceanography, or marine science are viewed favourably but not essential.
8‐12+ years of experience in coastal engineering/science or a related consulting environment.
What You'll Bring
A strong understanding of coastal, estuarine, and marine processes, especially along the NSW coastline.
Experience leading or contributing to coastal management programmes, coastal adaptation strategies, coastal hazard studies,



or shoreline management projects.
Experience undertaking coastal hazard analysis and risk assessments across open coast and estuarine environments.
Working knowledge of coastal numerical modelling (wave, hydrodynamic, morphological, water quality modelling, etc.).
Project delivery skills in:
Project management
Client relationship, stakeholder management, and community consultation
Preparation of technical reports, design documentation, and bespoke studies
Experience leading, mentoring, and supporting small to medium‐sized technical teams (desired but not essential).
Robust communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, communities, agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams.
A strong interest in business development and growing a sustainable pipeline of coastal and marine work in NSW.
