About Us:
Originally named The Wayside Foundation, The Ted Noffs Foundation was established in **** by the Australian humanitarian, Reverend Ted Noffs, who's work championed social justice, mental health support, and creative youth services.
Today, the Foundation continues his legacy, delivering frontline services and community support across NSW, ACT & QLD.
With over 200 staff and 350 volunteers, we remain deeply committed to helping young people affected by issues related to drugs, crime, and mental health.
The Role:
Noffs is looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate
Youth Worker
as a key part of our Townsville service.
This program is a multifaceted model designed to deliver intensive engagement, treatment, supervision, and assertive outreach aimed at reducing recidivism rates after detention.
Intensive support services are provided for young people experiencing drug and alcohol issues during their time in detention, and these supports extend into the community for a further 12 months.
Responsibilities and duties include, but not limited to:
Promoting meaningful engagement by young people in activities and working individually with young people on their own areas of interest including supporting young people to engage with educational and vocational activities.
Supporting the provision of services with a focus on quality engagement via creative arts, music, recreation and cultural connection.
This includes developing and maintaining a varied and viable program of activities for young people including individual tailored programs and group activities.
Acquiring local knowledge in order to develop meaningful dialogue with young people with the view of building rapport and relationships, and increasing access to services.
Seeking opportunities to form and leverage community partnerships and programs to support young people.
Providing targeted interventions and support to young people including interventions in alignment Therapeutic Crisis Intervention principles where appropriate.
Ensuring that the program is delivered to the highest standards in accordance with agreed program planning.
Actively maintaining contact with young people in the program including one-on-one support, assisting in providing case work support as well as providing mentoring and group work.
Providing ongoing support for clients and working closely with the service team for day-to-day implementation of the agreed Case Treatment Plan for each client.
Maintaining accurate and up to date client records, statistics, and reports.
Demonstrate a commitment to culturally safe practice, particularly when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and families.
Must hold and maintain a valid
QLD Blue Card
and
Driver's Licence
.
Must be able to work a
shift
roster; weekend on and weekend off.
