We have a number of Consultant
Psychiatrist positions across community Youth, Adult and
Older Adult services, Eating Disorder, Hospital-in the Home,
Inpatient and Community Mental Health services, Consultation
Liaison, Emergency Department and Mental Health Emergency
Centre.
This is a recruitment
pool for permanent and fixed-term appointments.
Full-time, part
time and sessional opportunities exist.
EMHS will be able to support the
successful applicants with their approved RANZCP- Specialist and
expedited pathway and assist with their AHPRA/Visa application.
Relocation assistance (capped) is also provided to interstate and
international successful applicants.
Current vacancies, to be filled
by September **** are as follows –
Royal Perth Bentley and Mt
Lawley Group (RPBMLG) – 1 FTE in Adult Community
Armadale Health Service
(AHS) – 2 FTE in Adult Inpatient
Armadale Health Service
(AHS) – 0.5 FTE in Adult Community (EEP/ART)

Position
Profile: We are seeking to appoint suitably qualified
Consultant Psychiatrists to the Mental Health Directorate across
RPBMLG and AHS.
The Consultant Psychiatrist will promote patient
safety and quality of care whilst providing leadership,
orientation, training, supervision, and education, where relevant,
for doctors in training, Service Registrars, Health Service Medical
Practitioners and other health workers.
This position, in
collaboration with the leadership team, works to achieve national,
state and EMHS performance standards and targets.
The Consultant
Psychiatrist works within the scope of clinical practice as defined
and recommended by the EMHS Area Medical Credentialing
Committee.
Area Profile:
East Metropolitan Health Service provides a comprehensive range of
public mental health services for ages; 16 years above, through
community mental health services and hospitals.
EMHS has two major
mental health divisions; Royal Perth Bentley and Mount Lawley
Group, and Armadale Kalamunda Group catering mental health services
for different suburbs under East Metropolitan areas.
The Royal Perth Bentley and Mount
Lawley Group is the largest Mental Health Division within the East
Metropolitan Health Service,
across a diverse geographical area.
RPBMLG delivers care through 166 mental health beds, which are
across youth, adult, rehabilitation, and older adult inpatient
settings.
Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) is
Perth's inner city, tertiary hospital.
RPH has a tertiary-level
Emergency Department, and comprehensive mental health and AOD
consultation liaison service to the general and surgical wards.
The
hospital has an emergency department with mental health services
and a short stay unit (MHEC).
It has 26 mental health beds.
RPH is
a premier teaching hospital and contributes to innovation and
excellence in medical research and patient care.
RPH is undergoing
major renovation with a new stated of the art purpose-built ED and
MHEC that is expected to be completed by ****.
Bentley Health Service (BHS) is
11km from the Perth CBD and forms part of the Royal Perth Bentley
Mount Lawley Group (RPBMLG).
BHS provides quality healthcare,
specialising in the delivery of mental health care, aged care
services, obstetrics, and rehabilitation.
It has 50 adult and 26
older adult mental health beds.
The Bentley site also has the 12
bedded mental health youth inpatient unit (EMyU).
EMHS also provide a unique
statewide service through the Transitional Care Unit (TCU) – is a
40 bedded state-wide rehabilitation facility.
The TCU has 20 short
stay and 20 long stay beds to provide rehabilitation and community
reintegration for mental health patients.
RPBMLG has 3 community services
across Bentley, City East and Midland to meet the needs of patients
that require specialist mental health care to the adult and older
adult population.
The community services provide assessment and
treatment (ATT) and the continuing care team (CTT).
They also have
Early Intervention, homeless, hostels and assertive outreach
services.
Mount Lawley Hospital will become
a part of Royal Perth Bentley Mount Lawley Group from 1
September ****.
It is a 205 bedded hospital with 12 bedded older
adult mental health inpatient unit.
Future Service Developments for
RPBMLG:
Secure Extended Care Unit
(SECU) – 24 bed unit for long term secure rehabilitation of
patients with serious mental health issues.
Planned to be open
in ****.
Neuro Modulation Services –
A separate, dedicated ECT suite is planned to be built at the
SECU site.
There are intentions to start Trans Cranial Magnetic
Stimulation Services (TMS).
A new Emergency Department (ED)
with mental health services and a new Mental Health Short Stay Unit
has been commissioned and is due to be completed in mid-**** at the
Royal Perth Hospital site.
RPBMLG also has several
state-wide services that include the Statewide Aboriginal Mental
Health Service (SAMHS), Mobile Community Outreach Team (MCOT) and
Mental Health Emergency Response Line (MHERL).
The Armadale Kalamunda Group
(AKG) consists of Armadale Health Service (AHS), Kalamunda Hospital
(palliative care) and Orchard Avenue Centre (community mental
health services).
AHS is a secondary-level health service with an
Emergency Department, mental health inpatient, hospital-in-the-home
services for general and mental health, comprehensive mental health
consultation, AOD and peri-natal liaison to ED and the general,
maternity, rehabilitation and surgical wards.
The AHS Mental Health
Services provides inpatient, hospital-in-the-home type service
(Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team), community residential and
community mental health services for adults and older adults
predominantly from the Armadale, Gosnells and Serpentine-Jarrahdale
local government areas.
The AHS Mental Health inpatient
services have 33 adult inpatients beds, inclusive of a high
dependency unit and 8 older adult beds.
The community mental health
service, Orchard Avenue Centre (OAC), based at Armadale Shopping
Centre provides outpatients services to adults and older adult.
OAC
consists of the Assessment and Treatment Team (ATT) as the first
point of contact for all referrals to adult community mental health
services, the Clinical Treatment Team (CTT) providing longer term
quality, specialist mental health care for consumers with complex
needs.
OAC also provides older adult community mental health
services, an early episode psychosis team and hostel in-reach
services.
Future Service Developments for
AKG:
Mental Health Emergency
Centre - 8 bed unit adjacent to the Emergency Department for
people with mental health crises offering a short stay
admission.
Planned commissioning scheduled for late
****.
Intentions to commence
Transcranial Magnetic Services, along with RPBMLG,
Expand the Crisis Resolution
Home Treatment Team further across EMHS.
Develop Youth community
mental health services and expand AOD services.
Byford Health Hub –
construction has commenced and is scheduled to open in **** to
provide a mix of outpatient, primary care, and mental health
services.
The integrated model is coordinated by EMHS, working
in partnership with service providers.
