The Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this role is responsible for administering Council's payroll function, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee entitlements, payroll reporting, reconciliations and statutory obligations in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award, relevant legislation and Council policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate will have relevant payroll qualifications or equivalent knowledge gained through experience, with demonstrated experience managing payroll processes in a complex environment, including the administration of employee entitlements, statutory obligations, payroll reporting, reconciliations and interpreting and applying awards.
Experience using payroll and HRIS systems, with knowledge of the NSW Local Government (State) Award and accounting principles will be highly regarded.
To succeed in the role, you will have strong systems skills, including experience using payroll and HRIS software, intermediate Microsoft Office skills,



a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and strong planning and time management skills.
You will have the ability to prioritise competing tasks, meet payroll deadlines, analyse payroll data, prepare accurate reports, and provide clear and timely advice to employees and managers while maintaining confidentiality and delivering high-quality customer service.
