We are currently seeking compassionate and dependable aged care support workers to join our growing team across Canberra and surrounding ACT suburbs.
About the Role
As an aged care support worker, you will provide in-home and community-based assistance according to each client's individual care plan, preferences and goals.
Your duties may include:
Personal care, including showering, grooming, dressing and toileting
Continence and mobility assistance
Medication assistance within your training and authorised scope
Meal preparation and mealtime assistance
Light domestic assistance, laundry and household tasks
Transport to appointments, shopping and community activities
Companionship and social support
Supporting clients to maintain independence and community connections
Monitoring and reporting changes in clients' health, wellbeing or support needs
Completing accurate progress notes and other required documentation
Following infection-control, manual-handling and workplace-safety procedures
Reporting incidents, risks, suspected abuse or neglect immediately
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing), Certificate III in Aged Care, Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability), or another relevant qualification




Current ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration for the relevant activity
A current National Police Certificate that meets aged-care worker-screening requirements, or a current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance where accepted
Current First Aid and CPR certificates
Current infection-prevention and control training
Current manual-handling training
Australian working rights
A current Australian driver licence
Access to a reliable, registered and comprehensively insured vehicle
A smartphone and the ability to use electronic rostering and documentation systems
Good verbal and written communication skills
Availability to work flexible hours, which may include mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays
Medication-assistance training and competency will be required where medication support forms part of a client's care plan.
Desirable Experience
The following will be highly regarded:
Previous experience in aged care, home care, dementia support or disability support
Dementia-care training
Palliative or end-of-life care experience
Mental-health or trauma-informed care training
Falls-prevention and food-safety training
Experience supporting people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
Knowledge of the Support at Home program
Fluency in a language other than English

Successful applicants must comply with the Aged Care Act ****, Aged Care Rules ****, Statement of Rights, Aged Care Code of Conduct, Serious Incident Response Scheme requirements, relevant Quality Standards, ACT safeguarding requirements and Thrive Aged Support policies and procedures.
All mandatory qualifications, checks, registrations and certificates must be provided and verified before unsupervised work begins.
