Position Overview
The
Provenance, Seed Collection and Seed Bank Manager
provides specialist knowledge and expertise in seed bank management, seed collection and provenance propagation.
This leadership position oversees the propagation of seedlings ensuring provenance is maintained and well recorded for APACE WA clients.
The role coordinates seed collection in the field ensuring compliance with Flora licences and seed processing, recording and reporting.
This team propagates approximately 60,000 native seedlings annually, meeting contractual, accreditation and strategic requirements.
This is pivotal in the attainment of our strategic goals to deliver specialised seed and propagation services, preserving the biodiversity of Southwest WA.
A high level of technical expertise and knowledge in horticulture, botany and/or conservation specifically related to WA native plants is required.
The manager needs valuable organisational and time management skills to lead a small team in alignment with the APACE environmental and social values.

Skills and experience
Qualification in Horticulture, Botany or Conservation and Eco System Management, or relevant equivalency.
In depth horticultural knowledge of the flora and propagation of WA native plants and trees, in particular the Swan Coastal Plain and Darling Scarp.
Expert current practical knowledge of best practice native seed collection, processing & storage techniques.
Experience locating suitable plants/remnants to collect from.
In depth knowledge of the nursery & revegetation industry.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, custom databases and GIS software.
Manual driver's licence.
Current First Aid Certificate.
