About the prospect
Boton Guinea is seeking an experienced
Shutdown Superintendent
to support conveyor maintenance services at the Simandou Mine Processing Plant in Guinea on an 6/3 roster.
This is a senior shutdown leadership position responsible for planning, coordinating and controlling the execution of planned shutdowns, major conveyor belt change-outs, significant repair works and urgent recovery campaigns.
Reporting to the Contract Manager or Site Superintendent, you will lead shutdown supervisors, leading hands, rigging specialists, belt-splicing crews, mechanical crews and support personnel.
Key responsibilities
You will:
Develop shutdown execution strategies based on the approved scope, forecast and site constraints.
Prepare shutdown manpower forecasts, equipment plans, mobilisation dates and staging requirements.
Coordinate crane, rigging, access, scaffolding, permit, isolation and support-equipment requirements.
Verify belt-change methodologies, belt-pull calculations, rigging plans and traffic controls.
Confirm workforce and equipment readiness in advance of each shutdown.
Lead shutdown progress meetings during every active shift.
Manage critical-path activities, constraints, actions, delays and recovery plans.
Coordinate work-front access, isolations, cranes, EWPs, tooling, spares, splice tents and quality hold points.
Ensure effective written handovers between day and night shifts.
Maintain accurate labour, equipment, standby, disruption and delay records.
Escalate changes to scope, access, sequencing, duration or resource requirements.
Ensure work packs, QA records, photographs,



defects and punch-list items are complete before release.
Lead shutdown close-out reviews and lessons-learned activities.
About you
You will have:
At least ten years' mining shutdown execution experience.
Demonstrated experience leading conveyor belt change-outs and major conveyor repairs.
Experience managing multi-shift shutdown teams.
A mechanical trade qualification, shutdown or project-management qualification, or equivalent major shutdown leadership experience.
Strong knowledge of conveyor systems, splicing, belt pulls, rigging and lifting interfaces.
Experience coordinating cranes, scaffolding, EWPs, permits, isolations and access requirements.
Robust understanding of critical-risk controls and safe shutdown execution.
Experience with scheduling tools, SAP, RTBS or equivalent maintenance systems.
Strong daily progress-reporting, action-tracking and delay-recording capability.
Professional working proficiency in English.
French-language capability will be highly regarded, particularly for local workforce supervision and communication.

Company and client mobilisation approval.
