Perth

We need a practical, hands-on person to take ownership of maintenance across our Perth factory.
You will help us keep the plant running safely and reliably today, while building the maintenance systems and discipline we need for the future.
ABOUT APCA
Advanced Pet Care Australia manufactures pet food in Perth.
We are continuing to invest in our plant,
equipment and operating systems.
As the factory develops, we need one clear owner for maintenance
and reliability - someone who can work on the equipment, solve the real problem and put practical
systems in place so maintenance becomes more planned and less reactive.
THE ROLE
This is not a desk-only maintenance management role.
You will be on the factory floor diagnosing faults,
completing repairs, planning preventative maintenance and coordinating the specialist support if needed.
You will also lead the implementation and integration of our maintenance management systems, including
MEX and the relevant Buhler maintenance system.
We are looking for someone with a recognized electrical, fitting, mechanical, mechatronics or similar trade
background, together with practical industrial automation experience.
You do not need to be the expert in
every discipline, but you must know how to diagnose problems, work safely within your licence and bring
in the right specialist when required.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
• Day-to-day maintenance and reliability across the factory.
• Planned, preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance.
• The factory asset register, maintenance history, work orders and critical spare parts.
• The implementation, coordination and integration of MEX and Buhler maintenance systems.
• Maintenance priorities, contractor coordination and equipment-manufacturer support.
• Practical improvement of plant safety, uptime, fault response and maintenance discipline.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, instrumentation and control-
system faults within your qualifications and authorised scope.
• Support equipment used for batching, conveying, extrusion, drying, cooling, coating, mixing,
packing and factory utilities.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, variable-speed drives, sensors, instruments, motors and industrial
control systems.

• Build practical preventative and predictive maintenance schedules around production
requirements.
• Set up the asset hierarchy, maintenance tasks, inspection frequencies, spare-parts records and
work-order process in MEX and the Buhler system.
• Coordinate equipment data and maintenance activity between APCA, Buhler, other
manufacturers, integrators and contractors.
• Support new equipment installation, commissioning, modification and handover.
• Investigate repeat breakdowns, identify root causes and implement corrective actions that last.
• Improve the availability and control of critical spare parts.
• Write clear maintenance procedures, checklists and equipment records that people will actually
use.
• Help operators identify developing faults and carry out appropriate basic equipment care.
• Work to APCA's safety, food-quality, isolation, lockout/tagout and permit-to-work requirements.
Important: You will own the maintenance function, but you will not be expected to personally perform work
that requires a licence or specialist qualification you do not hold.
Good judgement and safe contractor
coordination are part of the role.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
• A recognised trade qualification in industrial electrical work, mechanical fitting, fitting and turning,
electromechanical engineering, mechatronics or a closely related discipline.
• Strong hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Practical automation and controls experience, including PLC, HMI, drive, sensor and instrumentation
fault-finding.
• Broad mechanical fault-finding and repair capability.
• A working understanding of preventative maintenance, breakdown response and plant reliability.
• Experience using, implementing or materially improving a computerised maintenance management
system.
• The ability to organise contractors, suppliers, equipment manufacturers and competing priorities.
• A calm,

practical and methodical approach when production is under pressure.
• Clear communication and disciplined maintenance documentation.
EXPERIENCE WE VALUE
Experience in any of the following will be highly regarded:
• Food, pet food, animal-feed, grain, milling or FMCG manufacturing.
• Extrusion, batching, conveying, drying, cooling, coating or automated packing equipment.
• Buhler equipment or maintenance systems, MEX or a comparable CMMS.
• Equipment installation, commissioning, reliability improvement or condition monitoring.
• GMP, HACCP or another controlled manufacturing environment.
OVERSEAS CANDIDATES AND SPONSORSHIP
We welcome applications from experienced overseas professionals who are responsible about relocating to
Perth.
Employer sponsorship and relocation assistance may be considered for an exceptional candidate.
This remains subject to APCA approval and the candidate meeting the relevant Australian immigration,
qualification-recognition, licensing and skills-assessment requirements.
WHY CONSIDER THIS ROLE
• You will have genuine ownership of factory maintenance and reliability.
• You will help shape the maintenance function rather than inherit a narrow technician role.
• The work combines hands-on trade capability, automation, systems and continuous improvement.
• You will work directly with equipment manufacturers, technical specialists and factory leaders.
• Remuneration will be negotiated based on the capability and experience you bring.
HOW TO APPLY
Please submit your CV and a short cover letter that addresses the following:
• Your trade qualifications and current licences or permits.
• The industrial equipment and manufacturing environments you have maintained.
• A practical example of a difficult mechanical, electrical or automation fault you diagnosed and resolved.
• Your experience implementing or improving a maintenance management system.
• Your current location, availability and Australian work-rights or sponsorship requirements.
Practical examples matter.
We want to understand what you personally diagnosed, repaired,
implemented and improved.
