About the Role
We are seeking an experienced
Leading Hand
to join our Site Services team.
In this role, you will provide hands-on leadership and technical expertise to support the successful delivery of structural steel erection projects across commercial, industrial and steel projects.
You will be responsible for coordinating daily site activities, supporting and guiding team members, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently, and maintaining high standards of quality throughout the steel erection process.
This role will suit an experienced steel erector looking to take the next step in their career while contributing to a positive and productive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate steel erection activities on-site, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to quality standards.
Supervise, support and provide direction to steel erection team members.
Read and interpret structural and marked-up drawings to determine work requirements.
Ensure the safe installation of structural steel and cold rolled steel components.
Coordinate the use of materials, labour, plant and equipment to maximise productivity.
Operate and oversee the safe use of tools, vehicles, equipment and high-risk work equipment.
Identify and resolve site issues as they arise, minimising delays and maintaining project progress.
Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with safety procedures, SWMS and company requirements.
Mentor team members and encourage skill development and continuous improvement.
Maintain a professional representation of Ahrens while working on-site and with clients.
Skills and Experience
Previous experience in structural steel erection, cranes and rigging.
Experience leading or supervising a steel erection team.
Ability to read and interpret structural and construction drawings.
Construction White Card.
Current High Risk Work Licences (WP, DG and RB).
Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle.
Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Versatile approach with the ability to travel and work away from base location when required.
Current crane licence highly desirable.
