About the Role
This is a senior leadership role within our Litigation practice group, combining hands-on carriage of complex and catastrophic personal injury matters with strategic oversight, mentoring, and practice group leadership.
You will be trusted to drive strategic direction, resolve high-risk and previously "stalled" matters, and support your team of lawyers and paralegals in achieving strong client outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the Litigation practice group, setting direction and driving performance across the team
Taking personal carriage of a select caseload of complex, catastrophic, personal injury matters, including medical negligence, workers' compensation, public liability and motor vehicle

Conducting forensic evidentiary analysis to identify causal links and evidentiary gaps, and developing strategies to reframe complex or high-risk claims
Designing and executing strategic case plans to progress matters efficiently toward negotiation, mediation, or trial
Preparing matters for trial and mediation, including briefing counsel, settling witness statements, and overseeing trial bundles and evidence
Quantifying and negotiating complex, high-value claims, and leading settlement negotiations on behalf of the firm
Liaising with medical experts, counsel, statutory bodies, and other stakeholders on complex and catastrophic matters
Mentoring, training, and supervising lawyers and paralegals within the practice group, and overseeing file quality and compliance standards
Identifying and implementing process improvements to reduce delays and administrative "looping" across the practice group
Partnering with the Managing Principal and senior leadership on practice group strategy, growth, and resourcing
About You
You are a senior litigator with deep technical expertise, sound strategic judgement, and a genuine passion for resolving complex and high-value personal injury claims.
You bring the leadership skills and credibility to guide, mentor, and grow a high-performing practice group.

You will bring:
10+ years' experience as a Litigation Lawyer, with substantial experience across medical negligence, workers' compensation, public liability, motor vehicle, and/or TPD claims in Queensland
Current Queensland Practicing Certificate (or eligibility to hold one)
A demonstrated track record of resolving complex, high-value, or previously "unwinnable" claims through forensic medical evidence analysis and strategic case planning
Strong trial and mediation preparation experience, including briefing counsel and managing matters through to hearing
Proven leadership and mentoring skills
Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills, including with medical experts, counsel, and statutory bodies
The ability to work autonomously while providing transparent strategic direction and support to others
High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in file management, evidence handling, and reporting
Admission to the Supreme Court of Queensland (essential)
What We Offer
A genuine leadership role with autonomy and strategic influence
The opportunity to work on complex, high-value, and catastrophic injury matters
Supportive and approachable executive leadership
Ongoing internal and external professional development
A positive, values-driven firm culture
Competitive remuneration, commensurate with experience
Flexible/hybrid working arrangements considered
If you are a senior litigator ready to lead a high-performing team and shape the strategic direction of our Litigation practice group, we would love to hear from you.
