About the Role:
The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is looking for a detail-oriented and patient-focused professional to join its team as a Patient Election and Data Quality Officer.
This is a part-time, ongoing prospect based across Adelaide's northern metro corridor — a region experiencing meaningful growth and serving a diverse community.
What You'll Be Doing
Working within NALHN's health information environment, you will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of patient election data and supporting accurate, compliant records across the network.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Conducting patient election interviews to determine Medicare and private health insurance status for inpatient episodes
Reviewing and reconciling data quality issues within patient administration and clinical coding systems
Liaising with ward staff, admissions teams, and health fund representatives to resolve election discrepancies
Contributing to reporting and audit processes that support NALHN's revenue integrity and compliance obligations
What You'll Bring
Experience in a healthcare administration, patient services, or health information role
Strong working knowledge of Medicare legislation, private health insurance arrangements, and patient election processes in a South Australian public hospital setting
Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve data quality issues with accuracy and timeliness
Confident communicator who can engage sensitively with patients and families at the point of care
Proficiency with patient administration systems, with experience in EPAS or similar platforms highly regarded
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships.
An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.
