About the School
Warilla High School has an enrolment of **** students including 135 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students and 12% from non-English speaking backgrounds.
The school provides a quality, comprehensive education to a diverse student enrolment, supported by an experienced staff.
It has an outstanding program to support students with additional learning and support needs and is known for its innovative student welfare programs.
The school has a proud tradition of fostering academic, cultural, sporting, creative and vocational success.
The school's Special Education Unit consists of 7 classes which caters for the needs of students who require additional support.
Responsibilities
Teach Special Education and support students with Autism, Behaviour Difficulties, Moderate Intellectual Disability and complex needs including mental health.
Collaborate with faculty, SLSO's and interagency to support students with a range of complex needs.
Develop school and community partnerships to ensure flexible, innovative and student-centred programmes that meet the academic, welfare and post-school life needs of individual students.
Develop differentiated programmes and authentic assessment practices directly aligned with student individual goals to engage students and promote safe behaviour.
Qualifications & Selection Criteria
Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience in teaching students with Autism, Behaviour Difficulties, Moderate Intellectual Disability and complex needs including mental health.
Outstanding communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with a proven capacity to establish and maintain effective partnerships with students, staff at a faculty and whole school level, SLSO's and interagency.
Demonstrated ability to develop school and community partnerships to create flexible, innovative and student-centred programmes.
Experience in developing differentiated programmes and authentic assessment practices aligned with student goals.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
