As Elecnor's new Legal Counsel, you'll work side‐by‐side with our Head of Legal ANZ.
Based in Sydney, this is a hands‐on, commercially focused role designed for a sharp, proactive lawyer who wants real autonomy, a clear path to grow, and the chance to make a tangible impact on the future of energy.
You will act as a trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle—bridging the gap between complex legal frameworks and practical, everyday business operations.
Why You'll Love being part of the Elecnor Team

We offer stable careers and opportunities to grow, and our culture is built on respect and support by empowering our teams, strengthening communities, and shaping the future of energy together.
Responsibilities
Drive Contract Success: Draft, review, and negotiate a diverse mix of project agreements, including NDAs, ECI, BOP, EPC, and O&M; contracts.
Be a Trusted Advisor: Provide practical, business‐minded legal advice to project managers and leadership throughout the tender, procurement, and delivery phases.
Manage Risk & Claims: Identify legal risks early and advise on project‐level contract claims, variations, extensions of time (EOT), and force majeure events.
Navigate Compliance: Keep our business legally sound by aligning operations with construction laws, WHS, the Security of Payment (SOP) Act, and the Modern Slavery Act.
Resolve Disputes Early: Support the Head of Legal in contract administration and minor disputes to resolve issues quickly and avoid formal litigation.
Direct External Counsel: Assist in managing external lawyers and legal budgets, ensuring their advice is cost‐effective and meets our commercial needs.
Empower Project Teams: Translate complex legal jargon into clear,

actionable summaries and deliver practical training on contract management for site and office teams.
Qualifications
Qualified to Practise: Hold a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) and be admitted (or eligible) to practise law in Australia.
Proven Track Record: Bring post‐qualification experience, ideally from a construction/projects team in a top‐tier law firm or in‐house in the infrastructure or energy sector.
Contracting Know‐How: Solid hands‐on experience in front‐end drafting and negotiation for major construction projects.
Energy Sector Knowledge: Familiarity with standard industry agreements for renewables (solar, wind, BESS) and power transmission (substations and lines).
Legal & Regulatory Savvy: A strong grasp of construction law, Security of Payment (SOP) legislation, and general corporate compliance.
Sharp Communication: Outstanding written and verbal skills, with the ability to break down complex legal concepts into plain English for engineering and operational teams.
Pragmatic Problem Solver: A proactive team player with a highly collaborative mindset who thrives in a rapid‐paced environment.
