Position Summary
Proway is seeking a skilled and motivated
Mobile Maintenance Fitter
to join our operations team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of mobile plant and equipment to ensure maximum reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
This role involves working across various sites and requires a strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance, servicing, and repairs on mobile plant and equipment.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults and implement effective repairs.
Conduct regular inspections and condition assessments of equipment.
Respond to breakdowns and provide timely field service support to minimise operational downtime.
Complete maintenance schedules in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company requirements.
Maintain accurate service records, maintenance reports, and work orders.
Ensure all work is carried out safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance practices.
Coordinate with supervisors, operators, and site personnel to schedule maintenance activities.
Monitor and maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in a clean and operational condition.
Assist with equipment commissioning, installations, and modifications as required.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance operations.
Some overnight travel and stays will be required as part of this role.
Skills and Experience
Proven experience as a Mobile Maintenance Fitter, Diesel Fitter, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or similar role.
Strong knowledge of mobile plant equipment including loaders, excavators, forklifts, crushers,
screening plants, and associated machinery.
Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems.
Experience working in mining, construction, quarrying, manufacturing, or industrial environments is highly desirable.
Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Proficiency in completing maintenance documentation and reports.
Qualifications and Licences
Trade qualification as a Fitter and Turner, Plant Mechanic, or equivalent.
Current driver's licence.
Forklift, EWP, Working at Heights, and Confined Space tickets are advantageous.
Relevant industry certifications and site inductions are desirable.

Quality and accuracy of maintenance records.
Safety performance and compliance with company procedures.
Timely completion of maintenance tasks and repairs.

Ability to work in industrial and field-based environments.
Capability to lift, carry, and handle tools and equipment safely.
Willingness to travel to customer and operational sites as required.
Ability to work flexible hours and respond to urgent maintenance requirements when needed.
