Mega Watt Power
Coffs Harbour
Technical Sales Consultant – Solar & Renewables
Mega Watt Power | Coffs Harbour, NSW
Full-time | Established renewable energy business | Solar, batteries, off-grid, commercial and solar farm services
Mega Watt Power is a long-established renewable energy and electrical services business based in Coffs Harbour, NSW.
Established in ****, we have more than 37 years' experience across solar power, batteries, off-grid systems, commercial solar, inverter repairs, system testing, maintenance and solar farm electrical services.
We work across residential, commercial, rural and utility-scale environments, and our team includes energy consultants, electricians, technicians and engineers.
We are a family-owned Australian business, with the technical capability and track record of a much broader renewable energy operator.
We are now looking for a practical, commercially minded and customer-focused sales person to join our team.
This is not a hard-sell role.
It is also not a passive order-taking role.
We are looking for someone who can speak with customers properly, understand what they need, manage enquiries with discipline, and help turn interest into well-structured solar and energy solutions.
You do not need to be an electrician or a solar expert on day one.
You do need to be technically curious, commercially sensible, organised and willing to learn.
About the role
In this role, you will work with customers considering solar, batteries, system upgrades, repairs, off-grid solutions or other energy-related work.
You will be part of the sales process from first enquiry through to quote, follow-up and customer decision.
You will need to ask good questions, understand the customer's needs, work with the technical and installation teams where required, and make sure opportunities are followed up properly.
The right person will know how to balance good customer service with good commercial judgment.
Customers need to feel looked after, but the business also needs clear information, accurate quoting, proper follow-up and sensible decisions.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys people, practical products and meaningful customer conversations, but who also understands that sales requires structure, ownership and accountability.
What you will be doing
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Speaking with residential, commercial and rural customers about solar, battery and energy needs
Responding to current enquiries and making sure they are followed up properly
Asking the right questions so we can understand the customer's site, usage, budget and priorities
Preparing or coordinating quotes with the support of the technical team
Following up quotes and helping customers move from interest to a clear decision
Keeping accurate notes and records in the system so the wider team has visibility
Working closely with operations, installers and management to make sure customer expectations are realistic
Helping identify opportunities for upgrades, repairs, batteries, maintenance and off-grid solutions
Representing the business in a professional, practical and respectful way
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who has:
At least 2–4 years' experience in sales, account management, technical sales, trade sales, customer advisory or a similar commercial role
A good standard of written and verbal communication
Good general computer skills and confidence using systems, CRM tools, quoting software or similar platforms
A practical level of education, training or work history that shows you can understand technical products and explain them clearly
Confidence speaking with customers, without being pushy or scripted
A proactive approach to follow-up and the ability to take ownership of enquiries
Enough organisation to manage quotes, notes, calls and next steps properly
Technical curiosity and a willingness to learn about solar, batteries and energy systems
Commercial awareness, with an understanding that margin, timing and promises matter
The ability to balance good customer service with good business judgement
A calm, reliable and professional manner with customers and internal staff
Experience in solar,
electrical products, trade supplies, building products, home improvement, energy, technical products or another practical sales environment would be highly regarded.
This is not an entry-level sales role.
We are looking for someone who already understands how to manage customers, follow up opportunities, work with systems and take responsibility for sales outcomes.
Why join Mega Watt Power?
Mega Watt Power is not a typical solar sales business.
You will be joining a company with history, technical depth and a genuine reputation in the region.
Our work goes well beyond standard solar installation and includes solar system repairs, inverter repairs, batteries, off-grid systems, maintenance, commercial projects, system testing, technical fault-finding and solar farm electrical services.
This means you will not be selling a simple commodity.
You will be helping customers make good decisions about energy systems that need to be designed, installed, serviced and supported properly.
For the right person, this is an opportunity to sell meaningful renewable energy solutions in a business that can stand behind what it promises.
This role would suit someone who:
Has already worked in sales, account management, trade sales, technical sales or customer advisory roles
Enjoys dealing with people and solving practical problems
Likes the idea of working in solar and renewable energy
Wants a role with both customer contact and commercial responsibility
Is comfortable being measured on follow-up, activity and outcomes
Can use systems properly and understands why good records matter
Can work with a small team where communication and accountability matter
Wants to build genuine product knowledge over time
The right person will be steady, proactive, curious and commercially sensible.
They will care about customers, but they will also understand that a good outcome must work for the customer, the team and the business.
To apply
Please apply with your resume and a short note telling us why this role interests you.
We are open to people with direct solar experience, but we are also open to people from other relevant sales backgrounds who are practical, organised and willing to learn.
